Prevas increases its investment in embedded

Prevas is strengthening its range of embedded systems by acquiring technology and patents for finished building blocks in programmable electronic circuits. The agreement means that Prevas will assume responsibility for all sales and further development of all of Realfast IP's building blocks, including the world's fastest real-time operating system in hardware.

The technology permits performance improvements of up to 1,000 times and contributes to more effective product development in companies involved in electronics development. The existing customer base includes ABB, Ericsson, FMV, Saab and a number of smaller, high-tech companies in Sweden, Europe, the USA and Asia.

Microelectronics, which are the foundation stone of today's embedded systems, continue to grow at breakneck speed. Today, entire systems can be placed in a single programmable electronic circuit, which gives lower cost systems with better performance and a longer product life cycle. Higher quality and shorter development periods are also achieved by using finished building blocks.

"The acquisition of Realfast IP's building blocks for embedded systems aligns particularly well with Prevas' ambition to increase the efficiency of the customer's product development, which, with today's extremely rapid technological development, can be decisive for the success of a product. The market for embedded systems continues to produce strong growth, and we have many important customers who have already shown considerable interest in the new range," comments Anders Englund, CEO of Prevas.

Realfast IP, which is owned by Lennart Lindh, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Electronics at Mälardalen University, has devoted more than 30 man-years of research and development to productionizing embedded systems in the form of finished building blocks.

"Prevas has the necessary resources, expertise and experience now that the market for building blocks for programmable electronics is starting to take off," says Lennart Lindh, MD of Realfast IP. "For me it has been a matter of the greatest importance to find the right company to develop my ideas further. I will also be involved in the continuing development of the building blocks through my association with the Prevas Technical Advisory Board," continues Lennart Lindh.

With more than 20 years' experience in the development of intelligent products with a high technology content, Prevas is the leader in embedded systems in the Nordic region. We are investing in long-term ventures with our customers, which will enable us to develop profitable partner relationships. Our approach to managing projects reduces our customers' costs of developing new products, at the same time as development times are reduced and delivery delays are avoided.
